Focus privacy policy

Focus runs on websites you add and approve in Chrome. It reads page structure, media URLs, and displayed sizes to choose which elements to blur. This processing takes place on your device. Focus does not upload images or videos or send them to an external analysis service.

The extension stores your configured domains and preferences in chrome.storage.local: enabled state, content categories, blur strength, image mode, minimum image size, and pause deadlines. Settings are not synced between devices. Website content scripts cannot directly read this store through the extension storage API.

Focus runs without accounts, a backend, analytics, advertising SDKs, or telemetry. All executable code and detection rules ship with the extension. The extension makes no network requests. It keeps no browsing log and does not save individual page URLs, page text, images, videos, or form contents. Websites continue to load their own resources normally.

Focus uses page data only for the visual filtering features you choose. It does not transfer page data to third parties, sell it, or use it for advertising, profiling, or credit decisions.

Permissions

• storage: save your preferences on this device.
• scripting: apply bundled CSS and scripts on websites you approve.
• alarms: end a site's one-hour pause, including when the deadline passes while Chrome is closed.
• activeTab: identify the current website when you click the toolbar button.
• Optional HTTP/HTTPS host access: requested for each domain you add, including its subdomains. The broad optional patterns let you choose any domain; they grant no host access at installation.

You can remove sites in Focus and revoke access in Chrome. Uninstalling the extension removes its local settings. Chrome and your operating system may back up browser profiles according to your settings.

This policy page is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub handles visits under the GitHub Privacy Statement. The page contains no analytics, remote fonts, or tracking scripts.
